The Nerazzurri have formalized the renewal of Inzaghi’s defender, an agreement already struck in recent weeks for another season together: “Very happy to continue wearing these colors”

We’ve been waiting for the official announcement for several days, now it’s here. Matteo Darmian is no longer an expiring player, with his contract extension written in black and white until 2024. The agreement between the club and the player had already been finalized over the past few weeks in the wake of the player’s incredible continuity of performance, arriving from Parma in 2020 and the following summer from redeemed to the Emilians.

One of the most flexible players available to Simone Inzaghi, Darmian scored the winning goal against Atalanta in the Italian Cup quarter-finals with moves from the centre-forward. In his third season with the Nerazzurri, the defender has 91 competitive games with 8 goals and 9 assists. He is particularly appreciated by the coach not only for his objective reliability, but also for his flexibility on both flanks and as a third in defense. The sum of these qualities has led the club to speed up the contract renewal of the 33-year-old, who was born in Legnano: “I am very happy to continue wearing these colors – said Darmian – see you at the stadium.”
