Juve, Allegri’s soldier Kostic: The assist machine now scores
The Serbian full-back, untouchable for Allegri, took center stage at the San Siro, where he was man of the match thanks to his third goal of the season
For many it is the other Serb. What goals should Vlahovic and his teammates score? And indeed: Filip Kostic’s specialty has always been the model. Already twelve in the season, two of them in the first leg against Inter, one of them against Rabiot. Yesterday, the French will have remembered and returned the favor. So for a night, Kostic took the stage all to himself, with a mocking left foot that left Onana stunned. Third goal for Juventus, first against a big club, at a stadium, San Siro, where he had previously won against Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing Luciano Spalletti’s Inter out of the Europa League.
Another time the same Filip. Kostic initially took a while to take over the lady who vacillated between the role of winger and full-back when Allegri had not yet made the final choice of 3-5-2. Since then, the Serb has grown in confidence and consistency in performance, so the coach is almost never without him. Only one round off, in the Italian Cup against Monza, starter in 34 of 39 games of the season. He won’t have exhilarating dribbling (he doesn’t reach the average of one per game…), but he compensates with crosses: almost 5 per game. A bullet shooting machine. And considering that with the return of Chiesa and Di Maria, some referred to him as the sacrificial lamb on the super trident’s table. At the moment, however, Allegri hasn’t changed and it’s not just about injuries: he’s found the perfect soldier on the left flank.
