Maryland vs. Ohio State betting predictions

The two teams met in College Park last season. Ohio State won 43-30 but was outscored by 25 points and didn’t cover the spread. This Maryland team is better than last year’s team, and this year’s Ohio State team doesn’t have CJ Stroud at QB like last year’s team. In my opinion, the Buckeyes are not as good as last year. This does not appear to be the Buckeyes’ dominant group in 2022.

On the other hand, Maryland still has Taulia Tagovailoa at quarterback, and he’s having the best season of his career in passer rating (160.3). Maryland is 5-0 straight up as a team and they have performed well by several measures. The Terps are eighth in the nation in points per game (.397) and fifth in yards per punt (11.0). In 2018, Maryland nearly beat the Buckeyes, but the Terps ended up losing 52-51 in overtime. I think this game will be more like that matchup than Ohio State’s blowouts in 2019 (73-14) and 2021 (66-17). I like the Terps to keep it somewhat competitive in the Horseshoe this Saturday.
